## Description

These prep pads are non-woven swabs soaked in 70% isopropyl alcohol, each in its own foil seal. They cover the disinfection step of any peptide reconstitution: wiping the rubber stopper of the diluent vial, the peptide vial or an empty aliquot vial before the needle goes through, and cleaning the bench and gloved hands before sterile syringes are handled.

Every swab is two-ply and medium weight, large enough to clean a vial stopper or a small patch of bench in one wipe. Since each one is sealed separately, no alcohol is lost while the box sits on the shelf, and the pad comes out clean and fully saturated when you tear it open. Seventy percent is the reference strength for surface disinfection: the water content lets the alcohol get inside microbial cells instead of merely fixing their surface, and it evaporates within seconds, so no residue is carried into the vial with the next needle.

They disinfect each vial stopper before it is pierced — the bacteriostatic water, the peptide vial and any sterile empty vials you fill — and they clean the work surface. Wiping before every puncture is basic aseptic practice that keeps multi-use vials uncontaminated.

### Why 70% isopropyl alcohol and not something stronger?

Seventy percent is the recognised sweet spot for disinfecting surfaces. Its water content slows evaporation and helps the alcohol enter microbial cells; 90–99% alcohol evaporates too quickly and tends to coagulate surface proteins while leaving organisms beneath intact. At 70% the surface is also dry within seconds, so you can proceed to the needle straight away.

### How many pads does one reconstitution use?

Plan on one pad for every stopper puncture: one for the diluent, one for the peptide vial, one per aliquot vial, plus one or two for the bench. A box of 100 matches a 100-pack of syringes well, while the 200 box leaves spare pads for surface cleaning and diluent vials.

### Is each pad sterile and packed separately?

Yes. Every two-ply pad is wetted with 70% isopropyl alcohol and closed in an individual foil sachet, so it remains moist and clean until you open it. The lot details are printed on the box and can be requested. As this is a swab, not a peptide, an HPLC purity figure is not applicable.

### How should the pads be stored and thrown away?

Keep them sealed at room temperature, away from heat, sparks and naked flames — isopropyl alcohol is flammable. Throw out any pad that has dried. Used pads belong in ordinary lab waste; they are not sharps and should not fill up your sharps bin.
