It is neither a peptide nor a SARM: chemically it is a phenoxyacetic acid containing a thiazole ring and a trifluoromethylphenyl group, with a molecular weight of about 453.5 g/mol.

PPARdelta is a transcription factor switched on by ligand binding; it pairs with the retinoid X receptor and attaches to peroxisome proliferator response elements in gene promoters, so studies in this field mostly read out gene expression. Researchers measure PDK4 and CPT1 transcripts, rates of fatty-acid oxidation, muscle fibre-type gene programmes and the handling of lipids and lipoproteins, both in cultured myotubes and in rodents.
