Behind the short name Noopept lies N-phenylacetyl-L-prolylglycine ethyl ester. The molecule is synthetic: a proline–glycine dipeptide forms its backbone, a phenylacetyl group sits on the amino end and an ethyl ester on the carboxyl end. At C17H22N2O4 and 318.37 g/mol it is far lighter than the peptide nootropics it usually gets compared with, Semax and Selank among them.
