## Description

This 1-quart (about 0.95 L) container is rigid and resists punctures, and is meant for the used needles and syringes that come from reconstituting and aliquoting peptides. Any insulin syringe that has been used — to draw up bacteriostatic water, to dissolve a vial or to fill an aliquot — counts as a sharp from that moment on, and should go straight into a container like this rather than the normal bin.

It is moulded from thick-walled polypropylene, printed with the international biohazard symbol and a line showing the maximum fill level, and topped with a hinged lid whose one-way slot lets you drop syringes in lying flat. When the contents reach that line, you press the lid into its locked position, after which it cannot be opened, and the sealed container is disposed of as local rules require. At 1 quart it fits on a bench or in a drawer yet takes a good number of insulin-type syringes — just right for one research bench.
