## Description

Sigumir targets cartilage. It is one of Khavinson's Cytomax preparations, which were developed at the St Petersburg institute he led for research on ageing and bioregulation. None of the Cytomax products is a synthetic single-sequence peptide: each one is obtained by extracting young-animal tissue — for Sigumir, cartilage and connective tissue — then separating out a fraction of small peptides and drying it. What you receive is therefore a characterised blend rather than one molecule, and so no single CAS number, formula or sequence exists for it.

Underlying the whole programme is a claim of tissue specificity: short peptides fractionated from one organ are thought to act mainly on cells of that organ, shaping which genes they express and which proteins they make. Khavinson's team has written about this over several decades — including studies in which peptides interact with DNA — and has also produced defined synthetic stand-ins for individual tissues.
