This product is synthetic oxytocin already dissolved in water, supplied in a brown (amber) 15 mL bottle whose pump releases a measured dose into the nose. The peptide matches our freeze-dried vials exactly — the ring-shaped nine-residue hormone held together by a Cys1–Cys6 disulfide — but is supplied in solution, so researchers studying nasal delivery can work with a consistent, ready-made product instead of dissolving powder and filling bottles themselves.
The only difference between the two versions is how much peptide goes in: 10 mg or 20 mg per 15 mL bottle, roughly 0.67 or 1.33 mg/mL — about 5,000 or 10,000 IU if you apply the usual conversion of 1 IU ≈ 2 µg. What limits the product is its chemistry in solution. The Cys1–Cys6 disulfide can swap partners with other thiols, and oxytocin is known to lose amide groups (deamidation) and to pair up into dimers during storage — all of which happens faster in water than in a dry cake. Hence: store upright in the fridge, keep dark and never freeze. Within the same subcategory, the troche offers the same nonapeptide for use under the tongue instead of in the nose, and the freeze-dried vial remains the cleaner starting point whenever you want to set the concentration yourself.

Questions about Oxytocin Nasal Spray
How much oxytocin is in a bottle?
Both versions contain 15 mL of solution, loaded with either 10 mg or 20 mg of oxytocin — approximately 0.67 mg/mL or 1.33 mg/mL. With the customary conversion of 1 IU ≈ 2 µg, that equals about 5,000 IU or 10,000 IU.
Is it the same peptide as your lyophilised vials?
Yes — it's the same synthetic oxytocin of ≥99% HPLC purity, sharing CAS number, formula and sequence with our vials. Only the form is different: it comes ready-dissolved in a pump spray rather than as a dry cake to reconstitute.
Is there a certificate of analysis?
Every bottle can be traced to the certificate for the peptide used to fill it, which shows at least 99% HPLC purity and identity confirmed by mass spectrometry. Tell us the lot number on the label and we'll email you the corresponding document.
Why is intranasal oxytocin research so contested?
Only small amounts appear to reach the brain after nasal dosing, and these are difficult to measure directly, while behavioural effects in social paradigms tend to be modest. Variation in devices, deposition, volumes and formulations probably explains much of the inconsistency in published results, so methods remain hotly debated.
How should it be stored, and for how long can it be used?
Store it standing up in the fridge (2–8 °C), in the dark, and don't let it freeze. Oxytocin in solution degrades faster than as a freeze-dried powder, so set a maximum period of use in your protocol, check the concentration by analysis in longer studies, and throw the bottle away if the liquid turns cloudy or changes colour.
It looks like an ordinary nasal spray — can I use it myself?
No. Familiar packaging doesn't change its nature: it is a research chemical supplied solely for laboratory investigation, not a supplement or veterinary product.
