Andarine, or S-4, is a non-steroidal selective androgen receptor modulator from the aryl-propionamide class. It grew out of research on non-steroidal antiandrogens like bicalutamide: chemists altered that framework until the molecules still bound the androgen receptor but switched from blocking it to activating it in muscle and bone.
