Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-residue peptide reproducing the biologically active N-terminal portion of human growth hormone-releasing hormone — GHRH(1–29) amide. The natural hormone has 44 amino acids, but decades of endocrinology showed that the first 29 hold virtually all the information needed to bind the receptor, which is how this truncated analogue became a standard lab tool for studying the GHRH receptor.
Its chain is linear, with an amide at the C-terminal end, and weighs close to 3358 g/mol. It is built on solid phase and cleaned up by reversed-phase HPLC. Since it binds the GHRH receptor of the pituitary — not the ghrelin receptor — it is the tool of choice for studying the hypothalamic arm of the growth-hormone axis: how receptors are occupied, cyclic-AMP signalling, and the pulsed release of growth hormone seen in intact animals.

Questions about Sermorelin
What is sermorelin?
A lab-made peptide of 29 amino acids that exactly matches the active front section of human GHRH — GHRH(1–29) amide. Researchers use it as the standard GHRH receptor agonist in studies of endocrine signalling and growth hormone secretagogues.
Has your sermorelin been independently tested?
Yes. Identity and ≥99% purity are confirmed for each lot by reversed-phase HPLC, and the Certificate of Analysis can be requested. Check that the lot number printed on your vial is the one on the certificate, so your notes refer to precisely the tested material.
What storage does the vial require?
Keep the dry powder frozen at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture, where it keeps for a long time. Once dissolved, refrigerate it (2–8 °C) and finish it within your validated study period, without cycling it through repeated freezing and thawing.
How is sermorelin different from ipamorelin?
They bind different receptors. Sermorelin, being a GHRH analogue, attaches to the GHRH receptor; ipamorelin is a five-residue peptide that activates GHS-R1a, the ghrelin receptor. Some researchers combine them in cell models to see whether the two signalling routes influence each other.
What does the C-terminal amide signify?
The final amino acid ends in an amide rather than a free acid group. Natural GHRH is processed the same way; the amide removes a negative charge at the end of the chain and is generally associated with better recognition by the receptor and greater resistance to carboxypeptidases.
