SS-31 — also called elamipretide, and earlier MTP-131 or Bendavia — is a synthetic four-residue peptide based on the Szeto–Schiller aromatic-cationic design. Its sequence, D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2, alternates positively charged and aromatic residues and includes D-arginine and the non-natural amino acid 2',6'-dimethyl-L-tyrosine (Dmt), giving it exceptional resistance to peptidases for such a small molecule.
We make SS-31 by solid-phase synthesis, purify it by preparative HPLC and supply it freeze-dried in a sealed vial. Every lot is backed by a Certificate of Analysis that reports purity (by HPLC) and identity (by mass spectrometry).

Questions about SS-31 (Elamipretide)
What is SS-31?
A lab-made peptide of just four residues, alternating aromatic and positively charged amino acids — also known as elamipretide — designed by Szeto and Schiller. Researchers investigate it because it reportedly binds cardiolipin, a lipid of the inner mitochondrial membrane, and use it as a tool in studies of cellular energy production.
How do you confirm its purity?
Reverse-phase HPLC (≥99%) and mass spectrometry against the expected 639.80 g/mol are run on every lot, and the lot's Certificate of Analysis documenting both can be viewed before you buy.
Which sizes can I order?
Freeze-dried vials of 10 mg, 30 mg or 50 mg. SS-31 is a small molecule, so each milligram contains considerably more molecules than a milligram of a bigger peptide such as MOTS-c would.
What storage does it need?
Keep the lyophilised vial at −20 °C, away from light and moisture. After reconstitution, refrigerate at 2–8 °C in the dark and aliquot so the working solution isn't frozen and thawed repeatedly.
