ARA-290, or cibinetide, is an 11-residue peptide patterned on the outward-facing surface of helix B in erythropoietin. EPO has two separate activity profiles: the well-known blood-forming one, which runs through the classical receptor homodimer, and a tissue-protective one ascribed to a complex of the EPO receptor with the beta-common receptor — the so-called innate repair receptor. ARA-290 was engineered to activate the latter while leaving the former alone.

This design goal explains why the peptide keeps turning up in studies of neuroprotection and inflammation instead of haematology. Its sequence comes from a surface patch of EPO that plays no part in binding the classical receptor, and published studies report no relevant change in red-cell production — eliminating a significant confounder in tissue-protection work.

Our material is produced by solid-phase synthesis, purified to ≥99% by reversed-phase HPLC and delivered as lyophilised powder in sealed 10 mg and 20 mg glass vials, each lot backed by its own certificate of analysis. Research has focused on small-fibre neuropathy, neuropathic pain and models of inflammation. Supplied for laboratory research use only.

Questions about ARA-290 (Cibinetide)

What is ARA-290?

ARA-290 (cibinetide) is a synthetic 11-amino-acid peptide derived from the outer surface of erythropoietin's helix B. We supply it as a lyophilised research powder; it is studied for signalling through the innate repair receptor, not for effects on red-cell formation.

Does it increase red blood cell counts the way EPO does?

According to published data, no. Its sequence comes from an EPO surface region that does not take part in binding the classical homodimer receptor that drives blood-cell formation — exactly why researchers choose it for tissue-protection studies, where erythropoietic effects would distort the data.

Do you supply a certificate of analysis?

Yes. Every lot is analysed by reversed-phase HPLC to ≥99% purity with identity confirmed by mass spectrometry. The certificate bearing the lot number on your vial can be requested before or after you order.

What storage does ARA-290 need?

Store the unopened lyophilised vial at −20 °C, dry and protected from light. Once reconstituted, keep the solution at 2–8 °C in the dark and use it within your planned study period; aliquot it first so it does not go through repeated freezing and thawing.
