This difference is exactly why PEG-MGF is offered as a separate research product. Plain MGF is famously short-lived, which makes it awkward in whole-animal studies needing sustained exposure. Researchers working on skeletal muscle remodelling, satellite-cell dynamics and repair after injury often test both forms side by side, turning peptide half-life into a controlled variable rather than a confounder.
Peptide Medix EU delivers PEG-MGF as lyophilised powder in a sealed glass vial, HPLC-tested by an independent laboratory with a certificate of analysis for each lot. As PEGylation produces a heterogeneous product, molecular weight depends on the PEG chain length and is given on each lot's certificate instead of as one fixed figure. For laboratory research only.

Questions about PEG-MGF
How do PEG-MGF and MGF differ?
Their peptide sequence is the same — the 24-residue E-domain of IGF-1 Ec. PEG-MGF adds a polyethylene glycol chain that slows proteolysis and kidney clearance, keeping it available much longer. The choice usually depends on how long an exposure the study design needs.
Why is there no single molecular weight?
The attached PEG polymer has its own mass distribution, so PEG-MGF is a set of closely related species rather than one exact mass. The certificate for your lot states the peptide content and the PEG specification of the material supplied.
Is it tested by an independent lab?
Yes. An outside laboratory checks the core peptide's purity by HPLC and identity by mass spectrometry for every lot, and the resulting certificate — linked to the lot number on your vial — is available on request.
What's in the vial, and what else will I need?
Only sterile-filtered lyophilised PEG-MGF under vacuum — no diluent, syringes or filters. Bacteriostatic water and reconstitution supplies are listed separately in our lab-supplies category.
How stable is it after reconstitution?
More stable than plain MGF, but still a peptide in water. Keep reconstituted material at 2–8 °C for short-term use, shield it from light and repeated warming, and aliquot and freeze it for anything lasting more than a few days.
